Dr. Michael Tassone

Naturopathic Physician

Focus: Sports medicine, chronic pain, digestive health, rehabilitation, prolotherapy & advanced injection therapies

Dr. Tassone takes to heart the Naturopathic principle “Doctor as Teacher” and encompasses this value in every aspect of his professional practice. Dr. Tassone formerly taught Orthopedic Assessment & Physical Medicine at Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, and is currently an Instructor in the RMT Program at VCC-Kelowna. He is also a registered Continuing Education Instructor with RMTBC, and a Board Examiner for the CNPBC. His passion as an educator keeps him up to date on emerging therapies and is the cornerstone of his approach to patient care. He believes in finding the root cause of a patient’s health concerns, and ensures his patients understand how they can take control of their own wellbeing. When not in the clinic (or marking students’ assignments), you can find him getting lost in nature or immersed in the kitchen creating delicious gluten-free, dairy-free meals…(yes, they can be delicious).

Dr. Lauren Tomkins

Naturopathic Physician

Focus: Women's health, hormone imbalances, thyroid conditions, fertility, prenatal and postpartum support, digestive disorders

Dr. Tomkins is excited to bring her passion for healthy living and optimizing women’s health to the Okanagan. She is an Instructor in the RMT Program at VCC-Kelowna and a registered Continuing Education Instructor with RMTBC. She loves educating and spreading awareness about naturopathic medicine, nutrition, and all things women’s health. When not in the clinic, you can find Dr. Tomkins enjoying the Okanagan lifestyle - adventuring from the farmers’ markets to wineries, soaking up the sunshine at the lake, attempting new recipes, and hiking the many trails with her rescue dogs, Maddie, Ed & Millie.

Catherine Aujla-Fieldt

Registered Massage Therapist

Focus: Pregnancy and postpartum, sports injuries, myofasical release, trigger point therapy

Catherine is passionate about helping people achieve their goals and live their best and most healthy lives. During her RMT program, she learned how to do a thorough assessment, treat a wide variety of pathologies, and how to use hydrotherapy and therapeutic exercise effectively. In her free time, Catherine enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time outside in the sunshine.

Mercedes Giddens-Costa

Registered Massage Therapist

Focus: Trigger Point Therapy, Postural Alignment, Myofascial Release

Mercedes has a sincere passion for helping others, which is what lead her to become a Massage Therapist. With a holistic approach, she takes the time to understand what each individual’s needs are and provides a customized treatment using many different techniques and modalities. She is passionate about empowering, educating, and assisting her patients on the path to optimal health. An eternal student, Mercedes is always seeking ways to grow and to expand her knowledge base in order to help her patients to the best of her abilities. When she is not at the clinic, she is practicing yoga, meditation, and being the best cat mom she can be.

Sarah Reid

Certified Nutritional Practitioner

Focus: Weight loss, metabolic syndrome, adrenal fatigue, depression, anxiety

Sarah is an energetic and dynamic nutritional practitioner with expertise in many areas of health and wellness. Her background as a personal trainer which lead her to pursue her calling as a nutritional practitioner means she understands the importance of good coaching and accountability when is comes to making progress. Sarah believes in re-establishing the connection between what we eat and the effect it has on our bodies, educating her clients so they have the tools to succeed. Sarah aims to bring back the enjoyment of eating and use it as the focal point of any long-lasting nutritional program. Sarah focuses on helping her clients implement small but significant changes in their lives using practical and manageable steps to address health concerns from their root cause.

Fiona Walker, MSc

Registered Clinical Counsellor

Focus: Individual, couples, and family counselling

Fiona emigrated from the U.K with her family to Kelowna in 2007. She holds a Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counselling, is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors, and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Her years of experience include providing individual counselling for concerns related to emotional well-being and mental health, and relationship/family counselling. She has also co-facilitated therapy and psychoeducational groups, and provides tailored interventions that effectively integrate a range of psychotherapeutic approaches, complimenting other strategies designed to promote physical and emotional wellness. Fiona believes that we can change the way we feel by changing the way we think, and can transform troubled relationships into loving ones.

Carley Wells, MSW

Registered Social Worker

Focus: Anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, mental wellness

Carley is a recent graduate from the Clinical Social Work program at the University of British Columbia. During her time in the program, she received a great deal of experience in working with individuals with moderate to severe mental illnesses and was able to further develop her skills in supporting mental health and well-being. Carley is passionate about mental wellness and providing people with a safe place to heal and grow and is so excited to be bringing these services to the Integrative Health Centre. Working within a holistic and generalist social work framework, Carley works to develop treatment plans unique to each individual in order to best support them and the change they want to see.

Shonah Nykiforuk

Office Administrator

Focus: Office organizer extraordinaire, keeper of our sanity, coffee and camping expert

Shonah is going to be the main voice over the phone when calling the clinic to book your appointments or when you have questions!  Coming from a background of administration and having most recently worked for a chiropractic clinic, Shonah has a passion for health and making your clinic experience seamless and easy.  She is not only an amazing administrative resource for the clinic, but also a great resource for the Okanagan, having lived here for 15 years.  Feel free to not only ask her clinic questions, but for suggestions on local evening and weekend plans!  When Shonah isn't organizing, making lists, answering calls and taking care of our patients’ front-end needs, you can find her camping the back country with her husband and dachshund Bentley.

Amanda Miller

Receptionist

Focus: Front desk extraordinaire, recipe making master

Originally from the East Coast, Amanda came to the Okanagan in 2014 with the promise of sunny skies and warmer weather! Amanda is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist who specializes in weight loss, detox and stress management, and loves to help her clients find simple, yet effective ways meet their health goals. She works at our clinic as a part-time Receptionist and helps manage all patients’ needs. In her free time, you can usually find Amanda frolicking in the kitchen, hiking the local trails, or soaking up the sun on Lake Okanagan.
